This year’s Play Day was hailed a resounding success – with an estimated 6,000 youngsters and parents joining in the fun and games at Arnot Hill Park on Wednesday 13 August. Football fanatics were also given the chance to learn some top-notch football skills from former international footballer and sporting champion, Andy Sinton.

The event, which was organised by Gedling Play Forum with support from Nottinghamshire County Council and Gedling Borough Council, ran from 1pm to 4pm and had a variety of activities on offer.

Arnold’s very own dance troupe The Pop Divas were a big hit with youngsters, as were The Force with their unique street dance routines, and Nottingham Voicebox who showcased local singing talent.

Children enjoyed a range of activities including arts and crafts, colouring competitions, sports/games, den building, an adventure activity area, face painting and table top activities. The Play Forum also provided a mini beach for the younger visitors and rocket making and launching competitions for the slightly older ones. The Play Day gives under 14s the chance to try new activities and to express themselves through play in a safe and secure environment.
